About the Procedure Nose Surgery / Rhinoplasty
A rhinoplasty is a procedure that is executed to alter or correct the shape and function of the nose. Its main purpose is to restructure the nose in order to create a natural and attractive look. If done correctly, this procedure only needs to be performed once in a lifetime and will bare natural and satisfying results permanently. Rhinoplasties are usually performed on individuals who suffer from a deviated septum, have ethnic facial features or those who feel extremely uncomfortable with the appearance of their nose.
Nose jobs are typically performed under general anesthesia as an outpatient procedure, lasting approximately three hours. An incision will be made either through the base of the nose or through the nostrils to re-contour the nose. The skin is then lifted away from the underlying bone and cartilage, and the structure is re-shaped to achieve the desired changes. If necessary, the sides of the nose may be brought closer together. The cartilage may also be used to lift or re-form the tip of your nose to your specifications.
Nose Reshaping / Nose Job can change:

-
Nose size, in relation to other facial structures
-
Nose width, at the bridge
-
Nose profile (visible bumps or depressions on the bridge)
-
Nasal tip (large or bulb-shaped, drooping or too upturned)
-
Nostrils that are large, wide or upturned
-
Nasal asymmetry and deviation
Nose Surgery / Rhinoplasty Recovery and Results
After your nose reshaping procedure, you’ll need to wear a nasal splint for two weeks to protect your nose while it heals. If you do not mind going about your daily activities with this splint on, you can safely return to work within about two to three days.
You will need to wear tape over your nose for about three weeks to keep your nose in alignment until it is fully healed. Some common side effects include swelling and bruising, which can be easily covered up with makeup. Take care to avoid any strenuous exercise for four weeks after your procedure, as this may cause swelling or bleeding. Final results may not be seen for six months to a year, when all swelling will be gone.
Dr. Soler-Baillo takes extra precautions to ensure that your final results are as natural-looking as possible, with minimal scarring. You can see how such a subtle change can make a drastic difference by checking out our rhinoplasty before and after photos.
